…subtle is as subtle does

The Running Twat

Sometime over the last few months I turned into a runner…well, I’m actually really hesitant to call myself a ‘runner’ because it feels a bit like saying, ‘I’m a nuclear physicist’ when I’m only the person who cleans the toilets of the physicists who make the nuclear weapons. That’s how daunting the whole ‘running’ thing is to me and why I’m more comfortable with the label ‘the running twat’ at this stage (and thank you to the person who did a search for that and left me with a gem of a page title).

Discussions about running tend to make the eyes of the non-interested glaze over (if M’s general reaction is indicative of ‘most people’) so I thought I might move all the talk of wicking, HRM’s, ortholite cushioning, pace wristbands and other assorted running stuff here. For my own reference, it’s also going to be a bit of a training journal while I work towards a few personal goals.

yay! i’m looking forward to reading this :)

i’m doing a (much slower!!!) version of the C25K program-thingy that i found in a magazine (slow because it’s me doing it – not the program itself). i was only managing to run once or twice a week but am now hoping to up it to 4-5 times a week. Your tidbits about running have been quite the inspiration, lady, let me tell you! Congrats on your 12km run the other week too :)

Hey if you want another goal how about looking into competing at the Masters Games. I’m not sure if you are old enough to enter as the minimum is usually 30 years, but some are a bit lower.

You sure you are 33, nearly 34? I thought you were 28ish.

Lol…I *like* to think I’m still in my twenties but alas I’m not. I was 28 when I went to Alice Springs and that was when the one-who-shall-remain-nameless was bragging to everyone on alt that he “had” a thing in her twenties :) Maybe that’s where the 28 thing stuck in your mind??

I’m actually at that age where I start to forget how old I am. I was talking to my boss and going on and on about how I was 31…until he reminded me that I wasn’t!

You are probably right re: why I thought you were 28ish. Time flies by so quickly, where the hell does it get to? LOL

And PMSL @ you going on about being 31. I had a moment like that awhile ago, for some reason I was thinking I was 30 (I’m in my 40′s).

    How’s the running going?
My swimming is going well, except for the escapee boobies. *sighs* lol
