Week 6 done and dusted
Well, as the title suggests, I’ve finally finished week 6. It was such a slog and so hard to get motivated – although I do have to proudly announce that I woke up early on Wednesday morning and went out for my run before breakfast at 6am, then came back, got changed, wolfed down some yoghurt and a banana and went to work. I came to the conclusion that a run is much nicer after my morning coffee, but at least it was cool.
So I ran on Sun, Wed and today, Sat. On Thursday I walked the 10km home just to mix things up a bit.
This was my 11.13km course today:
My runs at the moment are clocking in at 10km+ so inevitably I hit hills because I simply refuse to run around in circles. Theoretically I could run around the flat oval across the road for an hour, but I’m pretty damn sure that I would be gnawing my own arm off by the end of it. 10kms is also the distance from here to the train station so I’m thinking seriously of ways to run to the station in the morning. Logistically it would require me to take my work clothes and lunch to work the day before and then I’d slip my bus pass and keys to the office into my ipod armband and off I’d go. I’m sooooooooo much better when I’ve got a purpose for running so I’m desperate to find something that works. The reverse is also a thought – running home from the station – but I’d be running at a really hot time of the day so that would be tricky too.
Lastly but not leastly, I’d like to moan about flies….
Now it’s getting warmer, they are starting to come out in force. I’m actually happy when I’m running into a really strong headwind because it keeps the flies off me…At least the flies aren’t as bad here as they are outside of the metropolitan area. I’d be seriously wearing a fly net if they were.
