Input

I spent my chilling weekend doing some blog housecleaning. I imported all my old entries from LJ and comments with a click. Have I mentioned that I love, love Wordpress?

I had a bit of a look through some of my older entries and laughed and did a fair bit of cringing too. I often say that ‘happy-happy-joy-joy-slavery-fulfills-me’ people make me a bit ill…the sad thing is that I used to be one of those people and it’s all there in writing. I was so clueless, it’s painful. Actually reading those entries is a bit like going to amateur theatre and feeling sorry and uncomfortable for the actors, because they are just really, really bad.

So I had a think about what what I’m doing here and thought I’d ask for some input. If you wouldn’t mind giving me some feedback by answering this poll, I might be able to better serve my reading public.

And before you ask, “We want to see forks!” is not an appropriate answer to put in the ‘other’ column…

Thanks!

  1. If you have a considerable number of fans already, then you’re clearly doing things right, and have no need to change anything. Considering that this isn’t a mono-subject blog, it’s quite likely that there are a diversity of reasons anyway.

Only reasons I can think of is that you want to maximize your fanbase through the lowest common denominator, or you want to be an audience whore. Either of those things is likely to make me say “not interested anymore, bye!” (Not saying that either of those are the reason, just the only ones I can think of.)

    1. I’m not necessarily trying to increase my fanbase, I just wonder sometimes if people are ‘happy’ reading what I post (you know, being a pleaser and all that 🙂 )

I mean, let’s face it. people blog so their words are read. If it was purely a venting thing, we wouldn’t bother to make our words public, would we? So, yeah, even though this is my blog and I can write what I want, I don’t want to bore anyone anymore than I need to.

But thanks for your two cents.

  2. I love polls, I voted for a mix and that you do that thing with your tongue. I expect you to do it all at the same time…. 😛

    1. OMG…you’re demanding that I *multi-task*???

Oh, that’s right, I’m not a boy so I *can* do the multi-tasking thing 🙂

  3. I just voted cause I have an obsession with answering polls *snikker* … see look people like hearing your accent 😉 Seriously though, there are ten billion blogs out there with ranting BDSM stuff … the people I love to read are the people who write about everything and anything because let’s face it, there are real people behind these blogs with “lives”, personalities and weird obsessions. I like sharing 😀 xxx

    1. Yeah, I have to admit that I like the random & the funny people.

Randomly funny people get bonus points.

And because I like your blog title so much, I’m thinking about renaming my blog to:

      bdsm-challenged

      What do you think?? 😉

  4. I like the variety of BDSM and other stuff. You are such a charming and entertaining writer, I like everything you write. Your style is very appealing.

Having said that, I don’t care about Japan, but please go ahead and whine whenever you like. Don’t bother being upbeat all the time. That’s what MY blog is all about, and that’s what works for me, but if you need to whine, do it.

Food porn? Yum! Since I live on the other side of the world, I love to read about the types of things you eat. Quite different from our meals, I’m sure. Or maybe not.

    Hugs,
    Hermione

    1. I’m VERY into food porn at the moment, so I’m playing with the idea of putting more stuff on here about what I eat. I find it really interesting to see what people eat around the world too! (Maybe I’m just too nosey 🙂 )

      1. what kind of porn does Vegemite make us think of?
though my old boss was from Tas and i think was a Marmite man? or just a sheep man? can sheep jokes and food porn be mixed together?

  5. I agree with vanimp that if you talk about both BDSM and real life, it shows you ARE real. I, too, don’t care much for those people that seem to try to make out that D/s relationships are all happy and fun; they are real relationships with both regular relationship problems, as well as their own special set of problems.

  6. Thanks for the comment 🙂 I like a bit of both too – and especially when I can see the personality of the writer coming through.
