Girlie pains

Sunday and Monday I had some super binge thing going and just ate ravenously for 48 hours. It all started with a craving for cake and just went down-hill from there. Every time  I have a craving I think that by eating something else, my craving will disappear, but that kind of defeats the whole purpose of a craving now, doesn’t it? Usually I just end up eating lots of other things *as well as* what I was craving to begin with. You’d think I’d learn after the billionth time and just have whatever I was craving wouldn’t you? But no. I think I have some retard gene in me along with wildebeest.

Well, I’ve been pretty damn good for the last 6 weeks and that was my first blow-out, so I can live with that.

Unfortunately as a result of my super binge, I stretched my tummy and it was aching so I didn’t run on Monday as planned. In fact, I had two days straight break and it was good. I’ve been finding running a super hard slog recently and I’m going to try and put it down to the fact that I’m ovulating and pmsing.

Apparently (according to coach jenny, my running guru) during pms is the worst possible time to run. Apparently, you’re even better running during your period with tampons and stuff shoved up there than during pms. Well, I don’t know if that is true for everyone, but I might just add that to my long-and-increasing-daily list of why it sucks being a girl.

So I did Week 5 Day 1 yesterday which was 6 x 7 min fast intervals and 6 x 60 sec slow over 8.7km. Until now I’ve been slow-jogging the slow intervals, but yesterday I had to walk. It was such a slog. It took me a good 30mins to find a not-too-uncomfortable pace, but I just couldn’t control my breathing and it stayed erratic (a.k.a huffing and puffing like I could blow someone’s house down) so I needed the walks to get it together.

It’s also getting warmer with the change of the seasons and soon it will probably be too hot to run in the afternoons. I’m not sure whether I’m dedicated enough to get up at 6am to go running, but 6am and then breakfast sounds better than 7pm and dinner at 8:30pm.
