Should it be this hard?

I’ve definitely lost my running mojo. I just have this huge sense of dread before going out for a run that is akin to going to the dentist to get root canal work done.

Each run itself is OMG hard, but then the tiredness and muscle soreness I experience afterwards is getting into ridiculous territory. All I can think is, should it be this fucking hard?

One would think that after running so regularly that my body would get stronger and things would get easier but I actually feel like I’m going backwards in many ways.

I’m running the equivalent of a marathon a week – which, in the scheme of things isn’t a lot.

I’m doing a km pace of 6:30 – which, is not fast at all.

My Week 8 podcast sessions for Freeway to 10km are 1hr 11mins in total (including 8 mins of warm-up/cool-down, 4 x 60 sec recovery periods & the obligatory 3 mins of dj chit-chat – so 15mins of walking) which means that I’m running for around 55min with my distance edging up to 11km. It’s not that far or fast, but I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck when it’s over. I’m also needing 2 recovery days between sessions as the tiredness and soreness seems to hang around for ages. I’m just barely feeling like myself again and it’s time to drag myself out the door for another session.

Yes, I stretch. Yes, I hydrate.

I think I’m doing something wrong.
