Spanner in the works

After hunting around on the web at work during a period of exceptional boredness, I discovered that my plans to go in the Rottnest 10km may have to go on the backburner. Firstly, it’s $40 to enter and the ferry there is $66 (discounted fare for participants). Secondly, after finishing the run at around 11:30am, I then have to hang around with no wallet and no nothing (as there is no way to store anything safely) until 4:30pm when the first ferry back leaves.

Hmmm….$106 and lots of hanging around time. It’s not sounding like the best plan. On reflection, I guess it would be okay if you made a weekend of it or something and spent a night or two there and went snorkelling and whatnot and then did the race, but just me, by myself, doing the run for an hour and paying over $100 for the privilege?

So that’s really crap. I’ve come to the conclusion that running is only something I enjoy if I’ve got something to work towards, so now I need to find something else…

Deepwater Point 15km on 29th November maybe?? It’s pretty much the course I used to walk in the mornings on my way to work, so no surprises and it’s flat! Woohoo!

Anyway, I finished Week 4 Day 1 on Tuesday and Day 2 on Thursday. Normally the first day in a new week is uberly tough, but I felt better about D1 than D2. I’m putting it down to the hills in the course I chose on Thursday.

Day 1 Elevation – 7.8km

Day 2 Elevation – 8km

It doesn’t look like much but, my legs certainly felt it.

  1. So are you still aiming for Deep Water? Bugger about Rottnest.

Are there running clubs that can give you info on more competitive runs around the area? There’d have to be heaps around somewhere surely?

    1. The West Australian Marathon club handles most of the runs and I’ve had a look at their programme. Because we’re coming into warmer weather now there’s not a lot happening though.

We’ve got a forecast for 31 degrees on Wednesday! What happened to spring???
