The twat returns!

Well, it’s been a few months, hasn’t it? In December I decided to take a bit of time off until I got a new running goal. Then in January I got a new job that seriously felt like I’d had a pineapple shoved up where pineapples are not supposed to go. After three months my job has settled down to manageable levels and so it’s time to get motivated for the half-marathon in August.

Four months with no running whatsoever set me back to zero. Well, admittedly it wasn’t quite zero but it was pretty close. I’ve gone back to the C25k programme and I’ve squished five weeks into two weeks. Yesterday I finished day 2 of week 5. But I can feel myself slowly getting back to where I was. It will take a few more weeks before I’m back to the 10km runs before breakfast level, but I’ll get there eventually.

In August there is the City to Surf that I did last year. Last year I did the 12km. This year I’d like to do the half-marathon. I know the course, I know what to expect, I’m pretty confident I can do it without too much trouble.

My only problem is finding time to train. At the moment I’m training in the evenings after I get home from work. It’s dark, it’s a bit scary and not exactly the idea conditions for embarking on a half-marathon training programme. Last year, I was only working part-time and so it was easy to fit in daily runs. Now I’m working 12-hour days and it’s tough. I am enjoying the me-time and the challenge though. I think for my sanity I needed a goal and something to work towards.

So that’s where I’m at. I’ll be writing here sporadically when the mood takes me.

    1. Hello hello 🙂

My training is going okay – I’m plodding along and about half-way through my 17-week extravaganza.

I’m finding it had to get my blogging mojo back…maybe one day.
