Week 7

I started week 7 by running home from the train station. I took my kit to work, got changed and left everything but my train pass and ipod at the office. Then I was going to take the train to the closest train station from home and run home from there.

At least, that’s what I was planning to do, but because the trains had been cancelled due to ‘an incident’, I took a bus to another place and ran home from there.

At least, that’s what I was planning to do except I ended up hopping on the wrong bus which actually took me further away from my destination. I got off as soon as I realised what was happening, but I started out my run more than 12km from home!! Eeep!

This was my course:

But I got home eventually – not helped at all by the blister that was forming on my foot from where my shoe was rubbing. I noticed my shoe on my right foot was rubbing last week, but at first I just thought it was an isolated thing because I hadn’t had any problems before. So I tried out the pair of ‘cool max’ socks I had because they were supposed to be more cushioned. Around about the 5km mark things started getting ouchie…and then it just went down-hill from there.

I came home and popped the blister and put some tea tree oil on it and it seemed to be okay. I thought for day 2 that I’d try two pairs of socks and this was my just over 10km course:

The double sock fix seemed better, but I had a lovely, even bigger blister waiting for me when I got home…ho hum.

I’ve got one day left in week 7 and then I’ll be starting week 8 and I’m scared. Week 7 has 9 minute intervals and week 8 has 14 minute intervals…

Yeah…
